Saturday was great!

J was so excited. Who are we kidding? Excited doesn’t cut it…for over a week he kept asking when his birthday party would be. When the day finally came, he was beside himself. But so patient!

Hubby helped me clean house in the morning—a HUGE help—but I over did it. My whole right arm and wrist is killing me, still. Ibuprofen is my friend, what can I say? He also did a Costco run and brought me some birthday flowers. I love!

We had NM’s friend, R, from church and they played together for a while until the older boys decided to play older boy games. Oh well. Before long, friends came around and the kids all had fun playing outside or playing inside with all the inflated balloons.

J couldn’t wait too long, so we had cake which was pretty good. Well, I did make the cake from a box of Trader Joe’s Vanilla cake, then topped it with chocolate ganache and then topped that with ice cream. We didn’t have much left over! Afterwards, J had a blast opening his present. Not surprising, he got lots of Legos. Lots of Legos = lots and lots of fun.

After a quick cleanup, we went out for dinner to a local restaurant called Z’Tejas. I share the same birthday as a couple of other people at church so we got together. I had pecan-crusted chicken salad which was great but hubby’s steak was melt-in-your-mouth goooooood. The kids were so crazy tired but in spite of that, they both said that the dinner was the highlight of the weekend for them.

I feel almost guilty silly saying this, but it felt great to turn 39. Maybe because I’ve enjoyed all the celebrating, the “happy birthday” wishes and the flowers. That, and it’s fun to see and hear the kids having so much fun. I feel blessed!
