Butterflies

Here’s one! And right on time, too.

Out of our five chrysalises, we have four butterflies. You can see the unopened one on the white napkin in the photo.

Sorry the photo’s blurry, but this is in a darkish corner of the house at the moment. We were supposed to keep them out of direct sunlight.

It was neat to hear my oldest screaming “BUTTERFLIES! MOM, WE HAVE BUTTERFLIES!” then hear the pattering of the youngest as he rushes to his butterfly habitat.

So we gave them orange slices and I’ll probably add some tissues saturated with sugar water later on. It is so cute to watch them uncurl their probosces to eat. Have you ever looked at their eyes? They’re so cute! Sad that one didn’t make it but there’s still a chance it may.
