We’ve started! Well, mom did actually, since the boys have a guest today and I wasn’t patient enough to wait until things settled down.

I opted to start the seeds indoors instead of placing them directly in the boxes. Several reasons: there’s a squirrel that comes by every morning and night, we have a doggy who digs and birds that come and visit. Hopefully, doing it this way will buy me a little time to make sure that the boxes are at least dig-proof.

This is what we have to look forward to, so far:

- Mandan corn, red corn, heirloom kind
- Sunflowers, Jerusalem Sunrise Lemon variety
- Bell peppers, Corno di Toro variety, Italian heirloom
- Rainbow Sherbet icebox watermelons; pink, yellow and orange flesh
- Eggplants, trio of Asian varieties
- Pumpkin – Baby Pam

We’re still hoping for herbs (basil and cilantro), onions, garlic, tomatoes (a slicing kind and a sweet kind), and whatever else we can get.

The neat thing about this is that the boys are really, really excited. We also got a very large pot at Costco today in a beautiful green. I’m hoping we can get a passion fruit vine to plant in it.
