Gee, Thanks, Karen.

So my sister sent me the link to the Philippine episode of Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations. I used to watch that show, why did I stop?

Mr. Bourdain, after admitting that Filipinos tended to be the loud wheel that squeaked “Why haven’t you come to the Philippines?”, made his way over there some time last year.

Did I see the show? Not at the time of airing. The Pinoy food blogs were abuzz about it but I avoided it.

You know why? Because I knew exactly what would happen. I would really, really, really, really miss the food.

My sister sent me the links for the episode on YouTube and I gave in. But I’ll share them with you:

Yes, I miss stew of goat guts, meat and bile. Yes, I miss bitter melon stew with fish paste. Most definitely I miss roast pig on a spit with Mang Tomas lechon sauce. MMMMMM

“The best pig ever” is a serious award from a guy who’s had a few good bigs.

I don’t know if I loved having watched that…or regretted it. Waah! I’m hungry.

Joh…i’ve never had sisig and i doubt i will because it’s pork fat!

Anna…you’re just chicken! Incidentally, chicken feet are only just a little chewy if done just right. MMmmm.

I’ve never had sisig either, actually, and few of those dishes that they showed. When I saw the sinigang though my mouth literally started to water, and when I saw the lechon I could barely stand it anymore. Goat I can live without, I never liked the taste.

When they went to Pampanga I was a little worried because I thought they’d feature a more *exotic dish. Thankfully they did not. (*Aso–tagalog nalang kasi baka matakot pa yung mga ‘Kano na nagbabasa dito! LOL).

i didn’t know you guys liked lechon that much. I was never a fan :-P I don’t know why. However, if I must eat lechon, then it has to be cebu lechon – quite tasty. sisig is sooooooooo good. it’s not just fat – there’s some skin, too – LOL. If it weren’t so deadly, I could eat it all the time. It’s the only fat dish I will eat. I’m surprised you and joh never, ever had sisig??!!

I think it’s because Mang Tomas sauce is so sweet ;) I love the skin of the lechon, skip the fat. I think sisig happened after I moved.
