Don’t You Hate It When…

Today was a great day, really and truly. Though my bible study was interrupted and cut short by one of the kids, the Lord was quick—very quick!—to remind me my ministry to Him must show in my ministry to my kids.
After I was spending some much time on the computer this morning, NM came up and asked me if I wanted to snuggle in bed with them. They had set up a reading nook in his bed, complete with all the Sponge Bob and Calvin & Hobbes books they have.
“But, but, but!” I complained in my head. The Lord was quick again. “Do we need to work within the schedule all the time? They’re only little once.” So I had to give in and we did our history reading in bed that morning. You know what? Not only is the Holy Spirit quick with the mental nudges, but He goes overboard with the blessings. Both the boys had a really great time while we were reading about Harriett Tubman and the Underground Railroad. NM remembered he had a magazine about it and we poured over that one, too. He had a writing assignment and he wrote out two pages’ worth when we only needed a paragraph. J was so excited, he just had to do his own, too (his was complete with an illustration).
This evening was the first meeting of our most recent women’s bible study. Owning up: I was really apprehensive because I’d never facilitated a group solo before. Yikes! The Lord reassured me, though, and things did go very smoothly. All was packed up and I head outside. No sooner do I get in the car than I get crammed with doubts, second-guessing and all kinds of why-did-you-think-you-could-do-this-job?
Ouch.
Whine!
But then, God was quick with reassurance. The Lord reminded me that my enemy was on the prowl and after my, trying to snatch and ruin my joy. I shouldn’t let him. Thank You, Lord!
“When the Counselor comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who goes out from the Father, he will testify about me.” John 15:26
