Last Saturday

I forgot to blog it, I know it’s late.
But last Saturday our boys spent the night with friends. Apparently they had fun sleeping in a room full of other boys. They were pretty tired the next day and both were caught staring into space a few times. But I got so many hugs! It was nice to be missed.
Hubby and I decided to go have dinner at Chuy’s on Barton Creek. Hey, Chuy’s! It’s been a while. You’d think I would have taken photos of the food, but I didn’t. I was really hungry by the time it arrived in spite of the fact that much of our 30-minute wait was taken up by me eating their chips and salsa. Instead I got a semi-decent shot of the ceiling over the bar.
I have no idea if they really had 1,000 of those pescados like they claim. Is 30 minutes enough time to count that many? Well, it was enough to take one exposure that was somewhat well composed and exposed.
After we sat down at the table and ordered, I tried to get a decent shot of the ceiling. It took me a good while which was fine since they had to cook my Chuy’s special enciladas with chicken layered in between blue corn tortillas, topped with tomatillo sauce and cheese plus accompanied by pico de gallo, rice and mmmmbeans.
To get this shot, there was an elaborate “tripod” involving the pepper shaker, napkins and maybe even sugar packets but mostly it took hubby finally convincing me to increase my aperture because I am too obsessed with tiny-numbered ones.
After that very good dinner, we drove down to South Congress to look at shops. How often have I ever gotten to do that? Never. I finally got to see the inside of Uncommon Objects by virtue of the fact that theyr’e the only place that was open (besides the bars/restos). That place is cluttered and piled and jammed with old stuff. Very little rhyme or reason in arrangement makes it fun for me. If you’re ever on the market for a post-WWII era Masonic banner (irony alert), you know you can probably find one at Uncommon Objects.
No more shops…8:30 pm…you’d think we’d go find some other place to hang out but no. We are getting on in years and decided to go back home instead. We actually skipped ice cream at Amy’s. I’m sure we’ll pay for that great neglect some day. One parting shot, seen on the way back to where we parked. Apparently, they’re popping up everywhere, even Austin:
