Making Friends

Well, that was the idea anyway.
This little squirrel surprised me. She was awfully close to us while we were playing at one end of the park. When J wanted to approach her—he asked nicely—she didn’t scamper up a tree but she did keep a safe distance.
It turned out that the ground was covered with goldfish crackers and she was munching away as fast as she could find them. I do mean “munch” because her cheeks never bulged. I was able to get as close as two feet away.
I could tell she was a “she” and that she had baby squirrels she was nursing. That might explain why she wasn’t too afraid of our advances. If you’ve ever been a nursing mom, you understand the draw of food you like!
If you think about it, there’s no practical reason why squirrels are so cute. Just a little benefit God gave us so we can appreciate His genius, amen?

Ganns, they’re cute. They carry fleas and such, though, so you have to be cautious.
