Rocks, Gems and Minerals, Oh My!

We were invited by our neighbors to check out this show since it was going to be over by the end of Sunday. We managed to convince the boys they out to check it out and I think they had fun.

There were lots of pretty semi-precious stones but, if you were to look at the price tags you’d wonder where the “semi” fits. Granted, some were pretty huge. Some were just pretty.

The warehouse also had some fossils on display. We tried to take in as much as we could, as quickly as we could since it was stuffy in there. But some of these things are really neat! I do wonder if they paint them too much, as in the trilobite in the upper right.

The boys found a section of Arkansas crystals that were $1 per pound. Mom had a buck and dad had a few more, so that set them off in search of just the right one. This wasn’t “the one” but it was neat to see how big those numbers could get:

NM was more selective, looking for just the right balance of weight and shape:

As it often does, teamwork won a find for J:

The boys enjoyed adding to their collections! Big thanks to my neighbors for letting us join them.
