Our Weekend

Well, let’s see.

Our Friday hike was rained out. But that made it easier for mom to get a shower (yay!) and get to the airport to pick up hubby on time. Well, not so much on time but early. I didn’t keep count of how many times we drove around but NM said it was “a million billion times” so it was a lot. Just as I was about to be overthrown in a mutiny, hubby came through the airport doors and saved me. It was all of about 20 minutes after we got there. Phew!

Saturday? The “day” part was pretty much shot. We vegged. Take that to mean everything that word could possibly mean. Well, except the possible meaning of eating vegetables. That evening, though, the boys headed off to church so that hubby and I could enjoy D8 night. You may also take “enjoy” to mean every possible meaning of that word, no exceptions. We had dinner at Z’Tejas which was especially delicious. Great food and company to match: awesome. We had a short walk afterwards and headed back to get the kids. We were only three minutes late! Yay, us!

Today was fun, though. Church in the morning was guaranteed to be good. Seriously, what trip through the book of Nehemiah isn’t? Afterwards, we did our normal Costco run and then home for lunch. If it weren’t for the rain, we would have been at NM’s soccer game. After lunch, we went shopping at Target for pants and a costume that J has been wanting for a long, long time (Dear Lola, don’t buy it anymore). He wanted the black and grey camo, but they were out of his size. The green suits him better, though.

He can cut an imposing figure, can’t he? In case you were wondering, in that last panel, he’s a dead soldier. Please don’t ask me why, I didn’t ask because sometimes it’s best to keep things like this a mystery. It comforts me as a mom to be in denial. Hehe.

NM was quite happy, too, since he got to visit SoccerUSA to get new shin guards. He absolutely loves that store and could hang there all day. He was prepared with his wallet and his money was burning a hole through it. Unfortunately, most of what he wanted was priced in the stratosphere. Seriously, would you pay $80 for a soccer jersey? I guess people do that, but even if he had the money we’d have to intervene.

All in all, we had a great weekend. There was lots of rain, but even with the amount we have had, Central Texas still hasn’t cancelled out the drought. Lord willing, we’ll keep getting more of the same weather.
