Last Weekend’s Antics

It was busy, that’s all I can say. On Friday, we had our morning hike with Nature Explorers. Funny, though, we were supposed to be hiking Barton Creek Greenbelt trails but it turned out they were all closed that day, probably due to recent rains. So we opted to head to the Zilker Park Nature Center instead.
Just a couple of photos of the boys:

More photos of the boys and what we saw over here. I’ll post some of NM’s photos later, and maybe J’s if any turned out. Lately, they’ve been taking turns using the point & shoot digicam and have been enjoying that a lot.
After our hike, we were able to get directions from the Nature Center staff on how to get to the Natural History museum. So we headed out and on the way stopped for Pizza Hut buffet. It’s a really cheap lunch for us and the buffet at the one nearest UT campus is nice. After lunch, we went to the Natural History Museum on UT’s campus.
It’s not a huge facility, but the boys have never been to one before and they had the added blessing of being with homeschooled friends from church. I’m not sure they remembered much of what they saw, but they sure enjoyed being with their friends! They did get to see things like this:
And lots of things like this:
There were a few things like this, too:
Anyway, we had fun. It was nice to get to hang out with our friends.
More of what they oggled at the museum is here.
But wait! There’s more!
On Saturday, we went hiking out at Barton Creek Greenbelt. It was open! It was so gorgeous. The creek was an actual creek instead of a dry creekbed, there were lots of doggies getting walked and—oh boy—lots of skeeters. Yes, we had bug spray but did we use it? No, it spent that whole time in the car. Good thing was that the boys didn’t seem to mind at all. I had long sleeves so I only have bites on my hands. Hubby has skeeter bites on his arms and neck then on top of that he had gotten in contact with poison ivy somehow. Just teeny tiny amounts but we can still tell.
The were kind enough to pose for me. J was having too much fun and had a hard time standing still.
See?
Sprocket came too and enjoyed meeting some new dogs. Yes, she yelled at them when they didn’t pay attention to her.
Going home after a really great morning:
